Meet the birth doula behind Vested Doula

Ciani (see-AH-nee) Welch didn't find birth work—it found her.

After a decade in fintech and a BA from Columbia University, Ciani had built a career around understanding complex systems and advocating for clients. But it was supporting expectant friends and family through labor and delivery that revealed her true calling.

Traveling abroad deepened that conviction. Seeing how other countries support families—not just during birth, but around it—made clear how much expecting parents in the U.S. are left to navigate on their own. Ciani founded Vested Doula to change that, at least for the families she serves.

Trained at the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations at Bastyr University, Ciani now supports families throughout the greater Seattle area. She brings calm advocacy and personal investment to every birth—because your birth deserves someone who is fully vested in you.
